Apple’s long-rumored robot might not grace our homes until at least 2028, if it even gets that far, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

In a recent X post, Kuo mentioned that Apple is in the early proof-of-concept (POC) stages for both humanoid and non-humanoid robots.

Apple appears less focused on the appearance of these machines than on the underlying technologies that enable them to interact with users, according to the analyst — gravitating towards anthropomorphic features over outright humanoid attributes.

“Apple cares more about how users build perception with robots than their physical appearance,” mentioned Kuo.

Proof-of-concept stage is critical for Apple to test product ideas and core technologies before they go into development.

The companypotential foldable iPhone is still in the POC stage, while other projects like the long-speculated Apple Car seem unable to escape this initial phase.

What sets apart Apple’s robot project is the company’s transparency during the POC phase, which Kuo believes might be an effort to attract more technological talent.

This is uncharacteristic for Apple, whose modus operandi tends to be shrouded in secrecy.

Separately, Kuo had earlier poured cold water on expectations that Apple could see larger iPhone sales on the back of Apple Intelligence.
