OpenAI on Wednesday announced a slew of updates around improving user experience on ChatGPT .

The company will now let users upload both files and images to o1 and o3-mini models in the ChatGPT interface, in bid to enhance user experience.

For Plus users, the company has significantly increased the o3-mini-high usage limits, offering up to 50 usage per day — a roughly sevenfold.

The Deep Research AI agent has been expanded to be available on mobile and desktop apps across platforms, including on iPhone, Android phones and as client on Macs and Windows devices.

The o3-mini-high is available as part of the ChatGPT Plus plan, priced at $20 per month. Free users have limited access to the o3-mini base model, while the top-tier Pro users, shelling out $200 a month, get o3 top model via Deep Research and unlimited access to the o3-mini models.

The Bigger Picture: When new models are launched, it is normal for AI companies to offer small number of chats per user and then gradually increase.

Being able to meet the demand is still a major struggle for the AI sector. Perplexity faced similar issues when it added DeepSeek R1 model late last month.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has lately been vocal about simplifying AI interactions, reiterating that enhancements like these are part of the broader roadmap towards unified intelligence.

The company has been steadily advancing its product offerings and plans to launch the GPT-4.5 and GPT-5 models in coming weeks to months.
